You've tried to learn Korean before
A textbook, an app, a few flashcards — and then it stopped after a week. For most people that isn't a lack of willpower. It's that there was never a spare hour for it.
Echo Korean doesn't ask for that hour. It uses the words you are already saying. Ordering coffee, texting a friend, talking about your day — those sentences become your textbook, in Korean.
How it works
Open the app, press Start. That's the whole setup.
Talk as you normally do
Nothing special to say. Just have the conversations you were going to have anyway.
Hear it in Korean
A moment after you finish, the same sentence plays back in natural spoken Korean.
Review it later
Every sentence is saved. The ones you say often get pulled out for practice.
What time should we meet tomorrow?
내일 몇 시에 만나요?
nae-il myeot si-e man-na-yo?
Your own sentences, not someone else's
Every other app teaches you the phrases its authors picked. This one teaches the phrases you actually use.
Instant, or on a delay
Hear the Korean right away, or after 3, 5 or 10 seconds so you can try guessing first. In a quiet room you can save the sentence without any sound at all.
Romanization on every line
You don't need to read Hangul to start. Every Korean sentence comes with syllable-by-syllable romanization — bap meo-geo-sseo-yo — and you can switch it off once you no longer need it.
Why it's said that way
Tap the bulb and it points at the parts English speakers trip over — particles like 은/는 and 을/를, and the verb that lands at the very end.
Repeat after me
Press ▶️ and after each Korean sentence there's a short pause to say it back — timed to the sentence's length. Hear each one 1, 2, 3 or 5 times, and pick up where you stopped.
See English, say Korean
Practice shows only the English. Say it (or type it) in Korean and it's checked on the spot, with the right answer and its romanization right underneath.
A Korean diary in 3 minutes
Write or say a few lines about your day in English. It becomes a Korean diary, with romanization under every sentence, read aloud to you.
10 everyday sentences a day
Haven't talked yet today? You get 10 sentences Koreans really say — at the café, the clinic, on the subway — at beginner or intermediate level, on the topics you pick.
Fix what it misheard
Tap a sentence to correct what the microphone got wrong, and the Korean is translated again.
Sentences made for you
Premium looks at what you've actually been saying and writes 10 new Korean expressions that fit your life.
Spaced review & streaks
Sentences you get right come back after 1 → 3 → 7 → 16 → 35 days; ones you miss come back tomorrow. A weekly report shows how far you've come.

Questions
Step-by-step instructions are in the how-to guide. Anything else, just email us.
I can't read Hangul yet. Can I still use it?
Yes — that's who it's built for. Every Korean line comes with romanization underneath, split by syllable so you can follow the sounds. Turn it off in Settings whenever you're ready to read the Hangul on its own.
Does it cost anything?
Listening, translating (30 sentences a day), the diary, daily sentences and practice are all free. Premium removes the daily limit and adds 💡 explanations and ✨ sentences made for you — and 💡 explanations are free for a week from the first time you tap 💡. Early testers keep half price for life once it launches.
How polite is the Korean it teaches?
It always uses 해요체 — the polite everyday style ending in -요. It's what you'll hear most in shops, cafés and among friends, and it's safe with almost anyone. It never uses 반말 (casual speech) or the stiff -습니다 style.
Is my conversation recorded?
No audio is stored. Speech is turned into text and the sound is gone. Only the text and its translation are saved on your phone, and synced to your own account if you sign in. See the privacy policy for details.
What if I change phones?
Sign in with Google and your sentences follow you — new phone, reinstall, either way.
Does it work on iPhone?
Android only for now. Safari doesn't support continuous speech recognition properly, so iPhone is still being worked on.
Can I turn the screen off?
It works best with the screen on, and the app keeps it awake for you. With the screen off, Android takes the microphone back after a few minutes and recognition stops.
Do I need earphones?
No. Bone-conduction earphones are nice because you still hear the room while the Korean goes into your ear, but a speaker is fine — the app pauses listening while it speaks so it doesn't hear itself.
What are "today's sentences"?
If you haven't said anything yet today, the app adds 10 everyday Korean sentences on a topic — ordering at a café, seeing a doctor, taking the subway — so there's always something to listen to and repeat. Choose beginner or intermediate and your favourite topics in Settings. They don't use up your translations.
How good is the translation?
It's AI translation. For everyday conversation it's natural enough, but long or technical sentences can come out awkward.
